SAINT ANTHONY &  CHURCH OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY PARISHIONERS

Grateful for God’s Providence Capital Campaign

VIDEO WEEKEND FOR

GRATEFUL FOR GOD’S PROVIDENCE CAMPAIGN

FOR SAINT ANTHONY & PRESENTATION PARISHIONERS

At all Masses this weekend, there will be an eight minute video explaining the overall Grateful for God’s Providence Campaign. Our goal for Saint Anthony is $553, 140. The Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary goal is $289, 183. Saint Edward has a goal of $180,017. Keep in mind that 40% of every dollar raised will stay in our parishes to complete our parish projects, and 60% will go toward the following:

  • SUPPORTING SEMINARIAN EDUCATION - Educate future priests who will serve our communities and our diocese.

  • CATHEDRAL OF SAINTS PETER & PAUL - Allow us to address the immediate needs of preservation and maintenance of the Cathedral.

  • SUPPORTING OUR RETIRED PRIESTS - Ensure medical expenses is secured for our retired priests.

  • CATHOLIC SCHOOL TUITION ASSISTANCE - Assist families and their students with tuition aid, based on demonstrated need.

  • CATHOLIC CHARITIES AND SOCIAL SERVICES - Providing a full range of services to the community including safe housing to the homeless, elder care and much more

The forty percent returned to our parishes will help fund the following projects:

  • SAINT ANTHONY

1. The church parking lot needs to be completely resurfaced and realigned as a cohesive project. This will     provide an ease to traffic flow and safer walking surface for our parishioners.

2. The south and western walkways are in need of replacement due to the overgrown trees. A compete redesign of these areas with the removal of the trees will result in sidewalks safer for our parishioners.

  • PRESENTATION CHURCH

1. Create an endowment fund that our parish can use to meet    future maintenance and repair issues. The ability to secure and save funds designed to keep the building and property in good condition is a much needed safeguard for the future of the parish.

2. Plan and install a priceless    Casavant Pipe Organ, acquired from Mount Saint Rita. We are blessed to have received this 1962 organ as a donation. This priceless instrument will be in our parish for future generations to enjoy.

  • SAINT EDWARD

1. The parking lost needs to be completely resurfaced and realigned as a cohesive project. This will help improve traffic flow and a safer walking area for our parishioners.

2. Our annual insurance inspections has recommended the project but due to the size it was delayed. We now have the opportunity to address this project as good stewards of the property for future generations.

HOLY FAMILY HOME NEWS

The growing number of homeless families in our state and the decreasing availability of affordable housing is a serious crisis which shows little effort of resolution in the near future.     Currently Holy Family Home provides for 11 families with one room reserved for emergencies from our parishes. We receive many inquires daily from all over the state for help which we are unable to assist. Because of this we are  weighing options of a possible expansion of our mission beyond 979 Branch   Avenue to an additional building which would serve as an annex to place eligible families ready for independent living.  If anyone knows of a possible apartment building in the Providence, North Providence, or Fairlawn Pawtucket area that may be available or if anyone wants to donate a building that can be converted to apartments please contact Father Ed.

RESPECT FOR LIFE COMMITTEE

October is Respect Life Month. May we show by our words and actions that every human life is cherished and chosen by God.

By now, we hope that prayer for the protection of life from conception to natural death has become a part of your daily prayers.  But have you considered fasting?  The sacrifice you make may just be what one expecting mom needs.

Domestic Violence Awareness Day

A PRAYER FOR RESPECT LIFE MONTH

He is always with us. Jesus promised this

when he gave the disciples the same mission

he gives to each of us: GO.

Go be my hands and feet to a world enslaved

by fear. Go to the women who is

unexpectedly pregnant and fears the future.

Go to your friend who fears reprisal at work

because he takes a stand for the protection

of human life. Go to your aging parent in

failing health who fears being a burden. And

go to others, too, for their support.

Walk with each other. Do not be afraid to

embrace God’s gift of life. Whatever storms

or trials we face, we are not alone.

He is with us.

ON LINE GIVING REMINDER

For all families who are currently using the online giving program we ask that you log into your account and update any information that has changed since you setup your initial account. This is also a good time to check your statements to see that your offering is being processed as you originally set it up. We have received notification of expired credit cards and invalid email addresses. Also, you should only set up your account once and have your offering deducted from that account; there are a few users who set up a new account each time they make an offering. If you have not signed up for online giving, please consider doing so. Log onto the parish website, stanthonychurch.org, click on the online giving icon, choose the church you are registered at and follow the menu driven screen. The help desk for all online questions is  1-800-348-2886 ext 4.
