Welcome to Saint Anthony

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

When we place ourselves at the service of our most vulnerable brothers and sisters we experience the joy of unconditional love.

SAINT ANTHONY &  CHURCH OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY PARISHIONERS

Grateful for God’s Providence Capital Campaign

All parishes in the Diocese of Providence are joining together for the Grateful for God’s Providence Campaign. As we approach the 150th anniversary of our Diocese, this historic campaign will ensure that we are able to continue our Mission for years to come.

The campaign seeks to raise $50 million over the next 4 years to prepare our faith family for the future.  At its heart, this campaign is about supporting our future by focusing on our parishes, our priests, Catholic school Tuition Assistance, Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral, and Catholic Charities and Social Services.

Every parish will retain 40% of every dollar raised in their parish’s campaign effort to be used for their own local needs. In the coming weeks, our Campaign Leadership Team will be providing more information about the campaign and details about each of its purposes.  Their goal is to make sure every parishioner knows what this campaign is about and how we are being called to participate.

Please take the time during the next few weeks to learn more about the campaign and the needs we will address together.

MISSION TRIP TO MISSISSIPPI

Great job to our mission team led by Father Ed, Father Mark, and Susan Vargas. Team members included Nicholas B. Croce, Gian Perotta, Elizabeth Lynch Gadaleta, Blaine Lynch Gadaleta, Joshua Masood, Andres Perez, and David Perez.

VILLAGE OF EL ROSARIO

The children recently received clothing sent from our Youth Ministry Team. Thank you to all who donated!

MENS PRAYER GROUP

We spend time with scripture, reflect on it's meaning in our  lives, and then share with God and each other our understanding of His word in our everyday experiences.  All men, 18 and up are invited to spend some time with the Lord and each other! Our next meeting will take place on Tuesday August 21st at 6:30pm in the Parish Center Dining Room. We conclude approximately 7:30pm.

Also, congratulations to Brother Ralph, who started the Prayer group back in February. Brother Ralph will be moving to the Bronx to begin work at Manhattan College. Because of the commitment of everyone, the prayer group will continue as long as possible, as he has committed to returning twice a month. May God continue to Bless him!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR

SAINT EDWARD FOOD CENTER

We are currently in need of able bodied male volunteers to carry boxes of canned goods and others items in the restocking process while clients shop during hours of operation. If you are available for a 2 hour shift on Wednesdays please leave a message for Father Ed at 353-3120 and he will contact you. Your help would be deeply appreciated.

CONGRATULATIONS TO RAY BONENFANT ON HIS

102nd BIRTHDAY

Father Ed and the Saint Anthony Parish family extends prayers and best wishes to Ray Bonenfant on 102nd  birthday. Since 1988 Ray has been active in the financial affairs of the parish, serving on the Finance Council and as Parish Auditor. In recent years he relocated to Massachusetts to be closer to his children and had to   resign from the auditor’s position although he was always available for consultation. His extensive knowledge of the financial records and practices over the years has been a blessing to the parish enabling it to remain on a solid foundation. May God bless him with good health for many years to come!

Final Report

CATHOLIC CHARITY APPEAL IN ACTION

A little over a year ago, a man, who we will call Jose, arrived. He was separated from his family, homeless, hopeless and was suffering from an opiate addiction. After 30 days, he seemed to feel better about himself and started to open up more about his situation. He was able to get off the opiates with an alternative program. He moved to the honor dorm and he started to work. He bought tools he needed, and a vehicle for transportation. One day at work Jose fell off a ladder and broke his ankle, and needed surgery.  Around this time a series of hurricanes struck Puerto Rico where is elderly mother, daughter, and grand daughter live.  Jose postponed his surgery, sold his tools and vehicle and bought a ticket back to Puerto Rico to help rebuild his mothers home. He knew he could not sustain his continuing recovery there and returned back to Emmanuel House to restart his recovery there. Jose knew that he would have support  there and he could have his surgery knowing the staff would help him.  Jose is currently doing well with his recovery from his surgery and addiction. He is grateful for the help he is receiving from Emmanuel House. (God’s House).

ON LINE GIVING REMINDER

For all families who are currently using the online giving program we ask that you log into your account and update any information that has changed since you setup your initial account. This is also a good time to check your statements to see that your offering is being processed as you originally set it up. We have received notification of expired credit cards and invalid email addresses. Also, you should only set up your account once and have your offering deducted from that account; there are a few users who set up a new account each time they make an offering. If you have not signed up for online giving, please consider doing so. Log onto the parish website, stanthonychurch.org, click on the online giving icon, choose the church you are registered at and follow the menu driven screen. The help desk for all online questions is  1-800-348-2886 ext 4.
