THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

During this week of Easter it would do us good every day to read a passage from the Gospel which speaks of the Resurrection of Christ.

                                                                                           - Pope Francis

Dear Parishioners,

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is celebrated for 50 days culminating with the Feast of Pentecost.  It’s most appropriate to express our gratitude at this time for everyone who in any way contributed to the celebration of Holy Week and the Paschal Triduum.  On Palm Sunday and Good Friday, the Passion was effectively proclaimed for the 20th year by our young parishioners.  All the services were reverent because of our dedicated lectors, altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, sacristans and ushers (ministers of hospitality), and our sacristans who worked behind the scene tending to the details of the rituals.  Special thanks to Toby Andrews, the choir and musicians for such uplifting musical selections.  The brass ensemble under Toby’s skillful direction made the Easter Vigil Liturgy a truly memorable and inspiring celebration, one of the best during the years that I’ve presided over. We also want to thank Scott Connery for coordinating the decorating of Saint Anthony and Presentation sanctuaries which are so beautiful.  Let’s not forget the women from Presentation Parish who creatively crafted the palm crosses which sold out quickly and the Holy Name Society volunteers who prepared the palm for distribution.  I am deeply appreciative to everyone whose stewardship of time and talent contributed to such faith filled liturgies of this high point of the church year.

God bless you!

Father Ed

NEW DIRECTORS OF THE PASSION PLAYERS

There has been a change of leadership this year. Damien Perrotta and Bianca Giammarco who had participated in the group for a number of years directed the Passion Players, assuming this responsibility from Elaine Miele and Andrea Aiello.  We want to thank Elaine and Andrea for their dedicated leadership over the years encouraging many of our youth to get involved.  Elaine had been involved from the beginning with Doris Lawson who coordinated our Junior High CCD Summer Program.  Their contribution to this important liturgical ministry will always be remembered with gratitude
